PLATICA DE LA MEXICANIDAD: CAPITANA TONANTZIN FERNANDEZ
Tlaltecuhtli: Danza Azteca de Austin, Tejas in collaboration with our family at Resistencia Bookstore invites our native brothers and sisters to a platica with Capitana de Danza Azteca, Tonantzin Fernandez from Tlaxcalancingo, Puebla Mexico.
Capitana Tonantzin speak on various subjects concerning indigenous issues in Mexico. She will speak about:
-The history of our Tenochca Mexica nation
-The untold story of the European invasion
-Post colonial conditions
-The story of Cuauhtemoc & the defense of Tenochtitlan
-The importance of participating in and safeguarding our ceremonial rituals.
Ms. Tonantzin is a Capitana of Danza Azteca Chichimeca. She belongs to the Mesa de la Virgen de la Soledad of General Felipe Aranda (RIP), from Mexico City, DF Mexico. She has been a danzante since the early 1980s. She has spoken extensively on our cultural history from Central Mexico, the Valley of Anahuac, and her personal experiences and expertise in one of our most revered ceremonial rituals: La Danza Azteca Chichimeca de la Gran Tenochtitlan!
We are asking for an open donation at the door to help cover the travel/food/board expenses for Capitana Tonantzin and her group. Part of the proceed that you donate will also go to keep Resistencia Bookstore alive and well as a vital part of our native/indigenous community. NONE will be turned down for lack of funds! We only ask that the financial situation of our relatives be considered with regards to making a donation.
Capitana Tonanztin will be selling regional clothes and garments from Mexico for men and women, books, danza and ceremonial attire, rattles, jewlery, etc!
