Red Salmon Arts, Casa de Resistencia Books has been tasked with dispersing mini grants to BIPOC entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs in the Austin area through the Living Cities Fund. Mini grants consist of a one time payment of $4,500. A strong applicant is someone who is embedded in their local community, providing a vital and wanted service to the community through their entrepreneurship (such as food, medicine, art, education), and are committed to justice in and outside of their community. What is Living Cities?
The Living Cities Fund is designed to increase and sustain BIPOC homeownership and entrepreneurship in the Austin area. Entrepreneurship has a central role for wealth creation along with homeownership. Not just for the business owner, but for whole communities. BIPOC owned businesses are usually in BIPOC communities and are more likely to hire BIPOC community members, and this has a spill over benefit to the entire community. Austin has a strong history of BIPOC owned businesses but because of the racial wealth gap, it has become more difficult to start and maintain businesses. Living Cities intends to assist in closing this wealth gap by providing seed money to committed BIPOC community members.

Las minibecas consisten en un pago único de $4,500. ¿Qué es Living Cities?
El Fondo de Living Cities está diseñado para aumentar y sostener la propiedad de vivienda y el espíritu empresarial de gentes de la comunidades BIPOC en el área de Austin. El espíritu empresarial desempeña un papel central en la creación de riqueza, junto con la propiedad de vivienda. No sólo para el propietaria/o/x del negocio, sino para comunidades enteras. Las empresas propiedad de BIPOC suelen estar en comunidades BIPOC y es más probable que contraten miembros de la comunidad BIPOC, y esto tiene un beneficio indirecto para toda la comunidad. Austin tiene una sólida historia de empresas propiedad de BIPOC, pero debido a la brecha de riqueza racial, se ha vuelto más difícil iniciar y mantener negocios. Living Cities tiene la intención de ayudar a cerrar esta brecha de riqueza proporcionando capital inicial a miembros comprometidos de la comunidad BIPOC.
