Screening and Discussion with Filmmaker Juan Izaguirre

January 17, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

For the past seven years, Austin filmmaker, Juan Izaguirre, has directed and photographed short documentaries focused on identity and its intersections with ethnicity, sexuality, and gender norms within our communities. Inspired by his upbringing in a working-class Mexican immigrant household, he has dedicated his career to telling stories about people of color that are not often told.

Join him as he presents a new documentary film that is currently in progress. After the screening, his wife and fellow Chicana director, Andrea Zarate, will facilitate a discussion about themes in the film and rules for documentary filmmaking.
