She is an anti-imperialist feminist\, community activist\, and student organizer. She enjoys co-learning and co-teaching with the youth to promote art\, memory\, and healing. When she is not doing research on trauma and violence\, she likes to cook\, make shampoos and body lotions\, and practice Reiki.\n@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@\nJoanna es una feminista anti-imperialista\, activista comunitaria\, y organizadora estudiantil que proveniente de El Salvador\, pero creció en San Francisco\, Califas. A ella le encanta trabajar con jóvenes para promover el arte\, memoria\, y sanción. En su tiempo libre ella hace sus propio shampoos y cremas\, cocina\, y practica el Reiki. \nMauricio Novoa \nMauricio is from Glenmont\, Maryland and is the son of Salvadoran refugees. He received his MFA from Queens University of Charlotte and his work has appeared in The Blue Mesa Review\, the Acentos Review\, and the anthology The Wandering Song: Central American Writing in the United States. His first poetry lessons were from 2Pac and Nas and currently volunteers for Resistencia Books and the Barrio Writers workshop. \n\nCafé Libro: Red Salmon Arts boasts the longest running literary venue in the city of Austin. Continuing the multi-decade tradition of open-mike series such as the Eastside/Southside Poetic Action and Canto Libre\, Café Libro provides a forum for emerging and established proponents of spoken word. These readings feature talented writers ranging in ages from 9 to 80. Café Libro offers local writers/artists an opportunity to build self-confidence and performance skills by presenting their work to the communities of Austin. \nThis project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department. \nVisit Austin at NowPlayingAustin.com. \nAll events are free and open to the public at Resistencia Books \n
