DESCRIPTION:The Inaugural Austin Latinx Micro-Book Festival will occur over the course of two days on August 29-30\, 2026\, on the grounds of Red Salmon Arts\, Casa de Resistencia Books in lands shaped by the sacred waters of Tzahopuanpopco (Barton Springs). \nFollowing in the footsteps of the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) in San Antonio\, Texas\, Inter-American Book Fair and Literary Festival\, held ev­ery Fall was fertile terrain to hear and learn about literature centering on the BIPOC experience in the 1990s. \nWe will build on the legacy of the Inter-American Book Fair but through the mandate which informs Red Salmon Arts to celebrate the literacy and literature of Chicanx\, Latinx\, and Indigenous established and up-in-coming writers\, authors\, and storytellers and cultural keepers across the state of Texas\, Somi Se’k\, Turtle Island \nSave the date and stay tuned for more details. \n\nLa primera edición del Austin Latinx Micro-Book Festival se llevará a cabo durante dos días\, el 29 y 30 de agosto de 2026\, en la localidad de Red Salmon Arts\, Casa de Resistencia Books\, situadas en tierras moldeadas por las aguas sagradas de Tzahopuanpopco (Barton Springs). \nSiguiendo los pasos de Inter-American Book Fair en Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center (GCAC) en San Antonio\, Texas —un evento cada otoño\, constituyó un terreno fértil para conocer y aprender sobre literatura centrada en la experiencia de las comunidades BIPOC durante la década de 1990. \nNos proponemos continuar ese legado\, pero lo haremos bajo la misión que guía a Red Salmon Arts: celebrar la alfabetización y la literatura de escritores\, autores\, narradores y guardianes culturales —tanto establecidxs\, como emergentes— de origen chicano/a/x\, latina/o/x e indígena en todo el estado de Texas\, Somi Se’k\, Turtle Island. \nPlease find schedule highlights/Por favor encuentre información sobre eventos principales aquí/here \nDownload a high resolution poster here/Descarga un póster de alta resolución aquí: https://bit.ly/4vv96aF \nFind the press release here/Encuentre el comunicado de prensa aquí: https://bit.ly/3TuZRZJ \nPoster created and designed by Cloud Cardona (@mexistentialism) \nThis project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant of Austin Arts\, Culture\, Music and Entertainment.
