Short bios:

ire’ne lara silva is the author of two poetry collections, furia (Mouthfeel Press, 2010) and Blood Sugar Canto (Saddle Road Press, 2016), which were both finalists for the International Latino Book Award in Poetry, an e-chapbook, Enduring Azucares, (Sibling Rivalry Press, 2015), as well as a short story collection, flesh to bone (Aunt Lute Books, 2013) which won the Premio Aztlán. She and poet Dan Vera are also the co-editors of Imaniman: Poets Writing in the Anzaldúan Borderlands, (Aunt Lute Books, 2017), a collection of poetry and essays. ire’ne is the recipient of the final Alfredo Cisneros del Moral Award, the Fiction Finalist for AROHO’s 2013 Gift of Freedom Award, and the 2008 recipient of the Gloria Anzaldúa Milagro Award. ire’ne was recently named a 2016-2018 Texas Touring Roster Artist. Natalia Sylvester is the author of the forthcoming novel, Everyone Knows You Go Home. Born in Lima, Peru, she came to the United States at age four. As a child, she spent time in South and Central Florida and the Rio Grande Valley in Texas before her family set down roots in Miami, where she received a BA in creative writing from the University of Miami. A former magazine editor, Natalia now works as a freelance writer in Austin and is a faculty member of the low-residency MFA program at Regis University. Her articles have appeared in Latina magazine, Writer’s Digest, the Austin American-Statesman, and on NBCLatino.com. Natalia’s debut novel, Chasing the Sun, was named the Best Debut Book of 2014 by Latinidad, and was chosen as a Book of the Month by the National Latino Book Club.

Rios de la Luz is a queer xicana/chapina sci-fi loving writer. She is the author of the short story collection, The Pulse Between Dimensions and The Desert (Ladybox Books 2015) and the novella, Itzá (Broken Rover Books 2017). Her work has appeared in Vol. 1 Brooklyn, The Fem Lit Magazine, Entropy, Luna Luna Magazine, Corporeal Clamor, and St. Sucia. She lives in El Paso with the love of her life and the magical beast known as Sleaze.

Leticia Urieta is a proud Tejana writer from Austin, TX. She works as a teaching artist in the Austin community. She is a graduate of Agnes Scott College and holds an MFA in Fiction writing from Texas State University. Her work appears or is forthcoming in Cleaver, Bearing the Mask: Persona Poems of the Southwest from Dos Gatos Press, Chicon Street Poets, BorderSenses, Lumina and many others. She has recently completed her first mixed genre collection of poetry and prose and is currently at work completing her novel that tells the story of a Mexican soldadera caught up in the march to Texas during Texas’ war with Mexico.
